101 Series

101 Series – Rear Mounted Chart Recorder

trident-101-series-rear-mounted-chart-recorder

Its not often we supply a 101 Series with a Rear Mounted Chart Recorder but they make a lot of sense! Normally we would supply the chart recorder and 101 Series separately but that can be a pain with needing extra hoses and tees to connect.

Rear Mounted Chart Recorder

We use the DE WIT brand of mechanical and battery operated chart recorders. We stock them as a portable unit with handles and feet or panel or flush mounting for fitting to one of our systems.

101 Series – Low Pressure Test Unit

101-series-low-pressure-test-unit-with-ball-valve

When we build a Low Pressure Test Unit we often use ball valves rather than needle valves as we would in a High Pressure Test Unit. That is because the low pressure units have a lot higher flow and need the ball valve to get the most out of the pump. The challenge is that ball valves take up a lot more room so we need a bigger frame. This unit has the stretched 101 Series frame which is perfect for this application or other applications including the need for a larger tank.

Low Pressure Test Unit Ball Valves

These Low Pressure Test Unit 101 Series use the Colson BH Series ball valves to 6000 psi. Yes that’s low pressure sometimes!

101 Series – Haskel Air Booster version

101 Series - Haskel Air Booster System

Haskel Air Booster version of our popular Trident 101 series system.

Haskel Air Booster

This unit has been fitted with the Haskel AAD-2 series air driven air booster pump. The part number includes the suffix -2. This means that the booster will boost or amplify the incoming air pressure two times. So if you have 100 psi air in your workshop or process you can increase it to 200 psi. Perfect for getting the most out of your air driven test pumps!

We have used the term “Air Booster” here as a common term for “Air Amplifiers”. Have a look at the range from Haskel and SC Hydraulic here.

101 Series – Adjustable Relief Valve version

101-series-adjustable-relief-valve-version

The Adjustable Relief Valve version of our popular Trident 101 series has come up regularly as a requirement lately. We just built this unit using the Haskel Adjustable Relief Valve part number: 27741.

Haskel Adjustable Relief Valve

The Haskel 27741 valve is one that we like to use. It has two inlet ports on opposite sides of the body with the outlet port on the bottom so it is very flexible to install. This is the only relief valve we know of that can be used inline to reduce pressure. One cannot get a relief valve to reseat under this application which proves how good it is.

There is some general information about these relief valves here but if you need more please let us know.

101 Series – Pressure Test Unit without a tank

trident-101-series-pressure-test-unit-without-a-tank

Need a Pressure Test Unit without a tank? The Trident 101 Series is normally sold with an 8 litre tank but there are applications where it is not required. Some of the common ones are as follows.

Low Pressure

One application is where the flow rate of the pump is so high the tank would be emptied too fast. This is often the case with the lower pressure pumps like the 5:1 that flows up to 10 litres per minute.

Light Weight

A full tank is going to weigh approx. 10 kg. If you are going to be carrying the unit around the weight can make a difference!

Flexibility of Fluids

Using a tank means it can be impractical to change test fluids. You need to drain and clean the tank every time you use a different fluid. Without a tank you just need to select the supply you need. The other way we recently quoted a customer was with a tank that would hold oil and a three way ball valve on the inlet that could be connected to an external water supply.

Cost

Another good reason to go without the tank is for cost. The tank is the most expensive part of the fabrication so removing it can give you some good savings. Just connect  your mains water supply or a remote tank to the inlet and you are ready to go.
